In her 2017 three-volume work UN COUP DE DÉS JAMAIS N'ABOLIRA LE HASARD, Klara Vith uses the typographical layout of Mallarme’s 1914 edition as a blueprint for publishing speeches by Donald J Trump. What is astonishing is how the free layout corresponds to the nature of public and political speeches. The work highlights certain topos and buzzwords of hate speech which occur in Trump’s speeches, such as POTENTIAL, AMERICA’S INTERESTS, as well as RAPISTS, TWO TRILLION, and AMERICA FIRST AMERICA FIRST. The beautifully executed, tiny edition, printed using a letterpress, somehow counteracts its semantic content. On the cover, the artist attributes the authorship to Donald J Trump.
